“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future. This is known as Fashion Week”. – Carrie Bradshaw

Carrie Bradshaw of SATC said it best! We always look forward to New York Fashion Week because it literally shows us what the future of fashion will look like. While we both do work in the fashion industry ourselves (aside from Lovely Happenings), we really appreciate the innovative looks that we see going down the runway, not to mention the time and effort it takes to put on such an elaborate presentation for all to see.

Here at Lovely Happenings, as a small business ourselves, our main goal is always to support other small businesses and brands from every lifestyle aspect. This especially includes up and coming fashion designers. Yes, it can be very flattering and boujee to be invited to and attend some of the “big name” designer runway shows, and let’s be honest, often times they do predict the season’s trends almost spot on. But there’s nothing like seeing the creativity and ideas behind some of the newer independent brands because soon enough they will be considered a “big name” as well, and all eyes will be on their gorgeous line of clothing.

This season we attended the Ivory Couture runway show presented by AMCONYC as well as the Flying Solo presentation which featured numerous emerging designers.

AMCONYC presents Ivory Couture

Last year we had the pleasure of attending an AMCONYC show featuring a separate up-rising designer, and we loved what we saw, so we knew we would enjoy the Ivory Couture show this season. AMCONYC produces fashion week presentations and events as well as acting as the PR, Social Media, and brand development for small companies to increase their brand awareness. And we have to say, they are good at what they do!

The Ivory Couture Clothing Co. show featured some breathtaking pieces for the season. The designer Bella Ivory founded this modern clothing brand, and it is based in LA.

In addition to Ivory Couture’s edgy and feminine looks, we also loved seeing Special Olympics champion and fashion model Chelsea Werner walk the runway looking beautiful! Not to mention recording artist Chris Porter who hit the runway to perform his latest song Catwalk Killer which provided such an upbeat feeling, and the crowd was absolutely into it!

For a peak at all of AMCONYC’s shows from this season, take a look at their video here!

Flying Solo presents Carlo Carrizosa, Elena Rudenko, Kalamarie Handbags, Daniel Silverstain, and many more!

The Flying Solo presentation featured over 20 up and coming designers from all over the world. The best part about this presentation is the fact that all of these featured designers sell their merchandise at the Flying Solo boutique located at 224 Mulberry Street here in New York.

The presentation included clothing as well as handbags and jewelry from featured Flying Solo designers. It’s no secret that the fashion industry can be a very liberal environment, and many collections often reflect our culture as well as current events. The designers in the Flying Solo presentation definitely exercised their freedom of speech via the protest signs pictured, and it certainly caught our attention!

Some of our favorite designers featured were Carlo Carrizosa, Elena Rudenko, Kalamarie Handbags, and Danuel Silverstain.

Since we had to make this season’s fashion week short and sweet, we are so happy that we prioritized viewing and supporting the emerging independent designers’ presentations. They never cease to amaze, and we wish them much continued success. We’re here for it!

Xoxo
